Time flies when you're having fun

(The girls built a tent in our living room. Sometimes that is the plus side of having no furniture in such a big room.)

Do you ever look back on your life and wonder where the years have gone to?  I have been doing that a lot lately.  33 years ago, my mom was in labor with me.  (Yes, I just admitted my age, don't hold it against me.)  According to my parents, it was a very snowy day and they almost didn't make it to the hospital because the weather was so bad.  They were living in a tiny apartment in downtown Salt Lake City.  My dad was an undergraduate pre-med student working at Primary Children's Hospital.  My mom used canning jar rings, covered in felt, as a mobile for my crib.  I was born 4 weeks early and barely weighed 6 pounds.

Move forward 10 years, we were living in Maryland.  My dad had just joined the Air Force.  He was stationed at Andrews AFB.  In a few weeks, we would have a huge snowstorm that would shut down the entire East Coast.  I had a few friends over for a birthday party.  I was still playing with Barbie dolls and dress up clothes.  I was in 4th Grade.

Another 10 years and I was attending Ricks College.  I was in my second year, majoring in Piano Pedagogy.  I had been dating a young man from Russia.  We would be married the following April.  Little did I know that 5 years later, we would be divorced.  Another 3 years and I would be remarried to my best friend, eating sushi and watching Harry Potter.  A few months later, I would find out I was pregnant with my first baby girl.

10 years after Ricks, I was living in Las Vegas.  Jon had just started a new job in the print industry.  We planned on having another baby.  It would take another 2 years before, on my birthday, my second little girl came into the world.  Yes, 1 year ago today, I would start the first stages of labor.  And she would decide that we needed to share a birthday.

It's been an amazing 33 years and I have done so much in so little time.  Tomorrow I will celebrate my life, and we will celebrate the birth of Caylee, one year ago.

Today, I am thankful for the life I have had, the things I have been able to do, the places I have been able to travel to, the things I have learned.  I have had a good life so far.
