Playing Catch-up: Week of February 21st-27th

It's been two weeks!  Wow.  I wish I could say that it was due to us having a good time in some far off place, but I can't.  We'll start with last week.

Last Sunday, we watched team USA beat the socks off of team Canada in hockey.  Oh, it was an amazing game.  I also dyed my hair again.  You know, I can honestly say that I do not know what the natural color of my hair is.  I think it has naturally darkened over the years, but I can't be sure.  :)

Last Monday, it was business as usual.  I said goodbye to two of my piano students, and it was surprisingly hard for me!  I love my two boys and will miss them.  Caylee has been making progress with tummy time, starting to left her head and push up with her arms.

Monday night into Tuesday morning was rough - Caylee was up every 2 hours exactly.  So when I was exhausted and felt down that day, I chalked it up to Caylee.  I even postponed piano students because I was feeling so tired.  Around 2:00 though, the aches began.  I had Jon stop by the pharmacy to pick up an antibiotic prescription for me, just in case.  And by 4:00, I was flat on my back, in excruciating pain - I had mastitis.  And because I had caught it so late, it was brutally painful - more so than my post-op pain after having a c-section with both my babies.  So Jon "made" dinner (aka Taco Bell) while I laid on the couch and sobbed while holding warm washcloths and a heat pad to my sore body.  I was downing 800mg Motrin and antibiotics like they were going out of style.  Okay, not that much, but I wanted ANYTHING that would take the pain away.  I got Caylee to bed, Jon put Jocey in bed, and I laid on his lap.  Then he put me to bed.  The fever was still there and I ached enough that when I got into bed, I started shaking.  Once more being my hero, he laid 2 more blankets on me and one on my head to try and warm me up.

Another rough night followed.  The pain was so intense and the meds made me so dizzy that I vomitted every time I stood up.  While feeding and rocking Caylee during the night, I prayed each time that I would be able to make it to the bathroom.  Wednesday brought more pain, more meds, more couch time, floor time for baby, and lots of bribes to my toddler to just watch all the movies she wanted.  We didn't get out of our jammies all day.  The night before, I had been in so much pain, I begged Jocey to put her own jammies on, which she did successfully - shirt on backwards and pants on inside out.  I didn't care one ounce though.  She was dressed and I was grateful.  Once again, Jon came home early to help and brought dinner home from I don't remember where made dinner.

Thursday was a little better.  I was even able to get the girls bathed for the first time in a few days as well as myself a shower!  Progress!  Again, begging Jocey to help me as much as possible, we broke out the bath foam so that she would wash herself.  I cancelled my postponed piano students again to allow myself to rest one more day.  I was still a little dizzy, still in pain although not as much.  And I found out that afternoon that Jon had tickets to go to the Nascar qualifying race on Friday.

Friday we went to the race.  I had been warned by several friends that it was loud, but I thought "How loud can one car going around the track be?"  Oh, I quickly found out.  We had bought ear protection for the girls, but it didn't do much for Caylee - she hated it.  The Thunderbirds were practicing at the same time, so it was extra loud, but really cool to watch everything.  We stayed through about a third of the race and then bailed due to the wailing baby.  We did get to see Dale Earnhardt, Jr. break the track record though, but we missed the 3 others that did the same later on.  It was still fun - it was our first experience at Nascar, and it wetted our appetites enough to want to go again.

Saturday, Jon spent the day locked up in his office completing his finals for his semester.  He did fabulously and ended the semester with an A- and an A.  Nothing less for this guy yet!  WOO HOO!  We're so proud of him.  That night, Jon introduced Jocey to Call of Duty and got her hooked on video games.  We also got the chance to visit a little with my Uncle Bruce about their mission call - they are going to Southern California as the mission president for the Spanish speaking mission.  So exciting.
