2009 Summer Vacation Part 1 - Cook Family Reunion

We just spent the last 2 weeks up in Wyoming and Utah for our summer vacation. The first part of the trip was spent at my parents' house in Wyoming. My sister, Emily, and her husband (and kids) are moving soon, and my other sister, Liz, is getting married in December (which Emily nor I will not be able to go to), so we decided it would be a great excuse for a family reunion. We even had t-shirts made up for all of us with the "Survivor" logo, tweaked a bit to reflect our reunion.

It was a blast. We had everyone there for the whole weekend including Liz's fiancee, Kent. We played the Cook Family version of Jeopardy, lit off fireworks for 3 1/2 hours, ate great food, and had a good time creating memories. The main part of the weekend was the Fourth of July. In Evanston, we can light off fireworks that are illegal in Utah and Nevada, so we all pitched in and had a great show. Here are some pictures of the weekend:

We started our trip early morning, Jocey loves road trips because she gets to watch the portable DVD player. I love the portable DVD players for that reason.

The reunion started with everyone pitching in to move my parents tent trailer from under the back porch so we could take it to Echo. It's so nice to have boys in the family now.

Jocey and Savannah - they quickly became inseperable. It was really cute.

Jocey and Savannah playing hide and go seek - which one is hiding and which one is seeking? Maybe someone better explain the concept to them.

Our first night we had a pizza party. Lots and lots of pizza, and laughs.

Jon and Hannah eating the yummy pizza, both equally goofy.

I was the MC for our family Jeopardy game. It was a great game and we all learned something about each other. It was a great introduction for Kent into our family.

Jocey helping my dad, Liz, my mom, and Hyrum with the answers to Jeopardy.

My dad won the game, and as his prize he got a musical waving American flag. Hilarious.

Fourth of July Cook Breakfast - when I was growing up my whole extended family would get together the morning of the 4th and have breakfast down at Willow Park in Logan. We decided to continue the tradition for our reunion.

Me and my hottie hubby. OH!

Evanston is a train town, and they have an old engine at a park. Jocey wanted to see the train, she even got to get inside the engine!

Jon and I had to get a picture on the front of the train.

Aunt Hannah and Jocey on the merry go round.

They had a cool trapeze thing at the playground there which Jon had to give a shot at climbing.

Jon chilling in the shade of the porch.

Jocey was THRILLED to be a Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Emily and Hyrum bought sidewalk chalk and paint for Jocey and Savannah. They loved being little artists and decorating Grandma's sidewalk.

Grandma has a water fountain in her front yard, and the girls loved going over and making the water splash.

Grandpa made homemade rootbeer, which was a HUGE hit with everyone, especially Jocey who loved to try and feel or taste the vapors coming out of the cooler from the dry ice.

Grandma and Grandpa have a bunch of game tables in the basement, one of which is an air hockey table. Jocey challenged Grandpa to a match - not sure who won, but 6 pucks is quite a few to have on there all at once.

Jocey and Savannah were buddies the whole weekend, this was a great shot - I took their booster seats out to the deck so they'd have a place to sit and eat. When I set them down, Savannah went over and pushed them together so they'd sit right next to each other. So cute!

Jocey and Savannah had a great time with the snappers and smoke bombs

Jocey got into the sparklers a bit, but didn't care for the smoke too much.

Mommy trying to show her how to draw things in the air with the sparkler, but Jocey just wasn't that interested, she wanted to see the BIG BOOM BOOMS!

Jocey and Savannah hanging out on Grandma's front porch in the rocking chairs. They were so cute the whole weekend, just little buddies.

Jocey played ping pong the whole weekend. And man, can she hit those ping pong balls! Our little athlete!

The 4th of July in Wyoming is always the best. It looks like you had a good time. You look great! I can't believe how grown up everybody is. Time sure does fly. I love Hannah's hair and Jocey's hoodie!
