Lights Out!

This past weekend, we made a quick trip up to Evanston to visit with my family and to spend a few days visiting with Dan Russo, Jon's best friend who just got home from a tour of duty in Afghanistan (WELCOME HOME, DAN!). While up there, Jocey was spoiled rotten. And by this, I mean that she got to stay up past her bedtime EVERY night. We're not just talking a few minutes here, we're talking 1-2 hours past! So now that we are home, she has had a hard time going to sleep at her regular bedtime.

Last night was no exception. Jon put her down, and 2 seconds later, she was calling for us. Like the horrible parents we are, we lock her bedroom door when we first put her down so that she'll stay in her room. So she squats down and calls for us through the crack under the door. Usually, after about 10 minutes, she crawls into bed and goes to sleep. So, when there was no more noise coming from her room, I assumed she was asleep. I began my 6 mile/30 minute bike ride, still no noise. After my workout, I walked past Jocey's room to take the laundry out of the dryer and I noticed that her light was on. I unlocked her door to find scrambling to get in her bed, her bag of blocks open on the floor, blocks scattered everywhere. She looks at me innocently and says, "Mommy, sing me baby song?" I said, "I don't think I want to sing you the baby song, Mommy's angry." She says, "I sorry, Mommy. Sing me baby song?" Oh she is so good at asking forgiveness rather than permission. I didn't even think she could reach her light switch let alone get her blocks open!
