Thanksgiving Weekend, Day One

We spent a wonderful weekend with the Tooele Yates - Jon's Dad and Stepmom. We all traveled to Swains Creek, Utah, where we stayed at Carmella's Mom's cabin (say THAT ten times fast!).

We left Vegas Wednesday morning, driving the entire way in pouring rain which ended in a good snowfall. Our very last leg was to make it up a hill to the cabin, which was snowpacked and slick. We were driving behind Dawnie's family, when we noticed that they had started to slide a bit, so we slowed down to avoid running in to the back of them. This made us get stuck. We then had to back down the hill and try again. We did this 3 times before we started rocking back and forth in the car and made it past the slick spot.

We got up to the cabin, unloaded our stuff, and settled in for a long winter's night. When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter... wait, wrong story. We had dinner together that night, Jocey had play time with Grandpa and Londyn, and we played the interview game.

Then the kids and Jon went out to check out the new snow that had fallen. It had been snowing since Wednesday night. By the time they went out, we had maybe 4 inches. Jocey loved the snow, but didn't last too long out in the dark.

One of the coolest things about our weekend, was that Carmella had put butcher paper on the tables, laid out permanent markers, and had all of us write all over them the things we were thankful for, and those were our table cloths for Thanksgiving dinner. It was really neat to see how quickly we filled them up, and everything was different! Our family sure does have a lot to be thankful for. I'll post pictures of it at the end of the Thanksgiving posts.
