Our Pretty Princess

Well, Jocey has now delved into the world of princesses. Probably my fault since I painted her toenails, indulge her in a little chapstick when I am putting my makeup on, let her wear my high heals around the house, and bought her "The Little Mermaid." She now carries her babies around with her (even to bed), wants to watch the "Mermaid" and "Mulan" constantly (with the occasional break for Toy Story), loves to wear her hand-me-down princess dress from her cousin, and has found a new fascination with the mirror. I don't mind so much, because she is SO DANG CUTE! I'll start worrying when she wants to wear my real makeup.

Watching her princess movies, sitting in her baby doll stroller. Somehow, I don't think she'll fit in it much longer.

Kids Say the Darndest Things!

...one night while trying to potty train Jocey:

Mommy: "Jocey, this is the last diaper! How exciting!"

Jocey: "Yup."

Mommy: "It's official, you're a big girl now!"

Jocey: "Mommy, I not a fish, I Jocey!"

-------------------------...as we are driving up to Wyoming:

Jocey: "Mommy, I want go to Grandpa's house."

Mommy: "We are going Jocey."

(after about the 100th time telling me she wants to go)

Jocey: "Where are we?"

Mommy: "Jocey, we're at Beaver."

Jocey: "SQUIRREL!"

-------------------------...one hormonal day, mid pregnancy, while sitting on the couch:

Jocey: (with my face in her hands) "Mommy, I like your haircut. You so beautiful."

Mommy: (trying not to cry from pregnancy hormones) "Thank you, Jocey. I think you are beautiful too."

Jocey: "Thank you being my mommy. You make me too happy."

Mommy: (wiping the tears away) "I'm glad I'm your mommy. You make me so happy too."

(Sometimes these conversations make all the frustration so worth it)

-------------------------...the other day while I was having a contraction:

Jocey: Mommy, you okay?

Mommy: Yes, I'm just having a contraction.

Jocey: Oh no Mommy, you not a trash can.

Daddy: OH NO!

Jocey: What Daddy?

Daddy: I forgot the lasagna that Mommy asked me to bring to Aunt Dawnie's.

Jocey: OH CRAP! We have to go back and get it.

-------------------------

Sitting in traffic one day...

Jocey: This is ridiculous.

-------------------------

Daddy: I have to get out of bed and get ready for work.

Jocey: Well, then, get out of bed!

-------------------------

Upon seeing the skeleton and tombstone set out for Halloween:

Jocey: Who's that?

Mom: No one, it's just pretend.

Jocey: But what is his name?

Mom: I don't know - must be Bob.

Jocey: No, it says right there, his name is R-I-P!
