It has been almost 1 year since I was diagnosed with PCOS - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. During this time, I have been trying to educate myself on the condition. Here's what I know:1. The cause of PCOS is unknown
2. It causes ovarian cysts (hence the name)
3. It causes skin problems such as acne and eczema
4. It is the leading cause of infertility in women
5. It is a cause of weight problems in women who have the disorder
6. It is not curable, but is managable
These are only a few of the facts that I have found out that apply to myself. This has been a painful discovery for me, knowing that the possibility of me ever conceiving again is less than 1%. At the same time, I have learned so much and had SO much explained to me about my medical history because of PCOS. AND, it makes me that much more grateful for Jocelynn and the simple fact that I have her and I conceived her without fertility treatments. WHAT A BLESSING SHE IS!
During my research, I have come across some findings that have really surprised me. For example, it was interesting for me to find out that diabetes medications are one treatment option for PCOS. Until a few weeks ago, I thought the only treatment option was birth control pills. Also, because PCOS can increase your insulin levels, I have to be tested for diabetes on a regular basis.
I guess my main reason for writing this is to let all of you know finally about my diagnosis and what I have learned about it. Oh, and one more thing: One in ten women has PCOS. ONE IN TEN! To all my girl friends, please check out the following websites to get educated, and if you feel you have the same symptoms, please SEE YOUR DOCTOR!

Cat, you're so good to be so open about this. Some people really do bury their heads in the sand about things like this, but not you! I love that you're helping other people this way! Good luck with dealing with this wrench in the works. It sounds like you're such a great Mama -- you totally inspire me to be better.
Love you! Natalie :)
