Black Friday means we blow a fuse

(We set the Christmas tree up downstairs tonight and got it strung with lights.  Caylee thought she was helping by grabbing one end of the lights and running all over the house with them.)

Thanksgiving was wonderful.  We had dinner with the Hewlett's (Jon's sister and her family) and Jon's dad and his family.  We fried a turkey, had my Grandmother Cook's stuffing, ate Grandma Johnson's Banana Salad and Apple Pie, played games, watched football, and laughed.  It was a great day.

I spent most of the beginning of the week baking things for the feast.  I had made an apple pie, stuffing, a cake, and 2 pumpkin pies.  Wednesday night, we were taking a couple of food items and the turkey fryer over to the Hewlett's house.  We were almost there (we're talking 200 feet maybe), I had the warm, un-set pumpkin pies on my lap, when a tiny ball of fur that resembled a kitten ran in front of our truck.  Jon slammed on the breaks, missed the kitten, but our poor pumpkin pies ended up all over the dashboard, me, my door, and the floor mat.  Expletives escaped my mouth that I will not repeat lest the bar of soap finds its' way in there.  We arrived to the house, carried the floor mat in, and went back out to the car to begin the clean up.  Unknown to me, the boys and girls were inside, spoons in hand, eating what we now lovingly call Floor Mat Pie.  They said it was delicious.  I just kept replaying scenes from "The Christmas Story" in my head and seeing Bumpas's hound dogs eating my hard work.

Today was recouperation day.  We watched movies, set up the Christmas tree, and relaxed.  We stayed indoors and away from the crazy shoppers out there.  I prefer to do my Christmas shopping over the Internet.  Besides, I think Christmas came to us throughout this year.
