Where has these last 2 weeks gone? Oh yeah, now I remember - in a car, in a state of concious sleep, and in limbo.
From my last post, I can tell that some people are confused. Sorry. Let me clarify. Yes, we are looking for a house (to buy). No, we did not buy the one we are currently in. We have finally acheived the point where we are in the position to buy a home and to stop renting. OH HEAVENLY DAY! I am so ready for some stability in my life. Even if that means staying in Vegas for a while. I don't care anymore. The longest I have ever lived in one place is when we were living in Mississippi. And I am tired of moving. Call me old and losing my sense of adventure. But I am tired of living my life out of boxes. Anyway, I digress. We are making our best attempt at playing this real estate game. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks.
The last two weeks have been INSANE! It started 2 Saturdays ago when we found out that Jon's aunt, Nola, had passed away. So last week, we made a whirlwind trip up to Wyoming/Utah to attend the funeral. We packed the girls in the car (and I mean PACKED) and left Wednesday morning. We only had to stop a couple of times for Caylee, which was a very pleasant surprise. Jon's sister and her kids followed us up and we met up with his mom and uncle, Preston, in Park City. We all traveled up to Evanston and stayed with my mom for a few days.
On Thursday, we attended the viewing, funeral, and graveside services in Salt Lake. It's always hard to say goodbye to those we love, but we are so grateful that Nola no longer has to suffer. Jon, his brother (Cal), his nephew (Dylan), uncle (Preston), and friends (Dave and Nate) were the pallbearers. It was a beautiful day and we had a good time reminiscing about Nola's life.
We stayed in Evanston one more day to give the girls a day without being in the car, and then we headed home Saturday morning. It was a long drive home between the girls being restless and the incredible rain storms we ran into. At one point we thought we were going to have to stay in St. George because the roads were so bad.
This week has been busy with tax preparation, piano students, packing, and just trying to catch up. Sunday was a fun day with Dawnie and Eric as we watched the Superbowl and celebrated the Saints' win. We played "Steve Superbowl Bingo," which Jon and I won every round either together or separately. It's always fun to watch football with those guys because Eric is so into sports.
Jon is as busy as ever. Between work, school, and the girls, we hardly get a word in between us. I usually find us laying in bed sometime between 11:00 and midnight trying to recap the day and have a little time to ourselves before the chaos begins again.
I'm not sure if it's life being in limbo or just the basic PPD, but I have been really down all this week. Thank heavens for medication to aleviate some of the symptoms, but it's not quite strong enough to eliminate everything. So I am looking forward to the coming week and hoping to get out of this slump.
Jocey is doing great, she is able to write her name all by herself now. She knows how to write A, B, C, D, E, F, and G now. She looks forward to preschool every day and writing letters to Grandpa on Friday. She had a great time hanging out with Grandma Cook and playing in the snow.
Caylee is growing strong, trying to sit up on her own already. She is constantly flexing her abdominals in an effort to raise her little body. You can tell she observes her big sister and wants to be doing what she is doing already. She even eyes the food we eat each day - I think rice cereal is coming very soon.
So that's a wrap up of our last couple of weeks. Don't forget to hit up our photoblog, Yates Project 365, for pictures of what's going each day at our house. Also, check out my recipe blog, He Married Me For My Cooking. I've been doing a lot of work on it lately, hoping to make it more interesting.
