Our Trip, Part 5 - An Accident, Motorcycles, and Bowling

Thursday, Day 5 - I should actually start this with my little incident that occured Wednesday night after we got back to the house. I was walking down the stairs, arms full, light off. Like a little girl with all the faith in the world, I thought I had reached the bottom floor - little did I know I still had two more steps to go. Yes, that's right, chicken soup went flying, purse spilled everywhere, and my right foot began to hurt excrutiatingly after I heard a very audible "pop!" After consultations from my massage therapist (Carmella), my physical therapist (Maria), and my podiatrist (Manx), the conclusion we came to is that I tore my achilles tendon and severly spranged my ankle. Fortunately, for me, I happened to be in a house where everyone immediately dropped everything and came to my aid with ice, ibuprofen, and TLC. I am much better now, but still pampering my sore heel. Sorry, no pictures!

Thus, Thursday was a very low key day. We did get to go out to the Miller Raceway again and watched the practice runs for the motorcycle races held last weekend. That was fun and Jocey had a good time climbing the grandstand and waving to the drivers. Afterwards, Jon introduced me to the famous Tooele drink, Ironport (I think it was a combination of root beer, cream soda, and something else). Yummy!

Thursday evening, the family got together (well, at least Nolan and Carmella, us, and Lonny and Jeannie and kids) to do a little bowling. This was Jocey's first experience bowling, and she had a ball (no pun intended). She even got her own pair of shoes (it's hilarious how cute anything looks on a baby). She bowled a 96! Not too shabby for a two year old! All of us had fun watching the kids bowl - it's funny how everything changes when you have kids. Before this time, bowling had been a very serious sport in Jon's family. The boys are all great bowlers and very competitive. This time around though, it really didn't even matter. We were all just having so much fun watching Jocey and Madison bowl. Afterwards, we all went out for ice cream and shakes and said our goodbye's to the family.

Your trip looks fun. I'm sorry about your ankle. How are you managing? I'm glad you got some sympathy and TLC, you deserve it.
